Pay attention to the cat water bowl material
The average daily water consumption of a cat is 60ml/kg. For example, if cat weighs 4kg, then it needs to drink 240ml of water per day. This amount of water does not refer to the amount of water consumed. This includes: the water intake in the diet, the water content in wet food, and the canned food is about 80%. The moisture content of dry food is about 10%.
But cats don't like to drink water. The main reason is that cats come from desert areas where water is scarce, which determines that most of their water replenishment comes from food-water and blood from their prey. Insufficient water intake of cats will cause urine to concentrate. After a long period of time, it will cause a series of cat diseases, ranging from rough hair and dry stools, moderate dehydration with skin diseases, and more serious cystitis and bladder. Stones, kidney stones, etc.
How should cat owners choose a cat water dish?
Water bowl material is the primary consideration when buying a cat water dish.
1. Pet physicians generally recommend stainless steel water bowls. There are three reasons: not afraid of falling; easy to clean; not easy to breed bacteria.
2. Glass and ceramic water bowls are also very good, but when purchasing, make sure that the materials used are lead-free glaze, otherwise it will not be beneficial to the cat.
3. Plastic water bowls are not recommended. Reasons: fragile; easy to produce scratches; the scratches are easy to breed bacteria; if it is a poor-quality plastic bowl, it will "contaminate" the cat's drinking water and release harmful chemicals in the water, which will cause the cat to get sick.
Then how to arrange the cat water bowl at home?
1. Put more water dishes
Put water dishes in the corner of each room, also in the cat’s resting place and play area so that they can drink nearby. Try not to put the water dish together with the food bowl.
2. Clean the water dish frequently and change the water at least once a day.
Keeping the water surface clean is very important. Clean the water dish every day and change the water at least once a day. Otherwise, if you leave it for too long, the dust, cat hair, and debris floating on the water surface will also make cat not like to drink.
